Obsessed With This Lifestyle!

I can’t believe that there are only 2 weeks left in my 80 Day Obsession journey. I don’t want it to end! First off, I have to say I started this journey because I wanted and needed a change and that is exactly what I got but not in the way you may think! Yes there are some changes in my body- my clothes fit different and some are too big in areas but I weigh the same. At first I thought I was losing too much weight until I weighed myself then realized my body composition just changed. This just goes to show you that you can’t go by that number on the scale, in fact I do not own a scale. I am so much stronger now and can get through the workouts better. And did you know that strength training helps to balance out hormones as well as protects against osteoporosis? I also love that self care is talked about so much during the program and how important it is. When we get busy it’s the last thing we think to do but it should be the first thing we do.

The workouts are challenging and sometimes dreaded (the zoo aka cardio flow) but I pushed through and did them anyway because that was the plan. The most changes that have happened are not my physical body but internally. I FEEL better, I don’t have that mid day slump anymore, my energy is high all day and I am so much more focused, grounded and happy. Part of that comes from my daily meditation but this program has really set me up for success in all areas of my life. I have never followed a program with the nutrition like I have with this one. I have learned so much.

I am so grateful to be in this test group, to have this opportunity and to learn more about nutrition on a whole new level. To see everyone else's journey and their changes was awesome, so many changes!! Timed nutrition was scary to me at first since I don’t get a lunch break at work and we eat when we can but I make it work and I don't beat myself up if I don't get in all my meals (I am eating 5 meals a day) I realized that before this program I was not eating balanced meals at all and not nearly enough protein or greens! I thought you could get it all in in a big salad - ha! The body doesn’t work that way. That is why it is so important to have the proper macros with every meal. Protein, carbs, greens and fats. I think if everyone started to eat this way, they would feel so much better and have tons of energy. It’s about eating clean foods, getting creative with the meals and meal prepping to be prepared. Fail to plan- plan to fail...that is so true. There were a few days where I didn’t plan well and ended up not eating nearly enough and I could feel the difference. This has become my lifestyle now and I will continue to eat in this way.

Food is fuel as they say. I wanted to share this with you and also invite you to join our next group so you can have this amazing experience too!  I can't say enough good things about this experience.

In Gratitude!

Trusting the Process

In the beginning of September I decided to be in a 30 day online challenge group for  Body Beast  and  Shakeology .  I had never been in a challenge group before so I wanted to have that experience, plus it looked like fun!  At first I was a little nervous and overwhelmed because as part of this challenge group we were to post a daily picture of our shakeology, one of our meals,  which workout we did and a sweaty post workout selfie.  Eek…I never take selfies much less pictures!  Then there was the fear of everyone seeing it that wasn’t in the group. I have a hard time putting myself out there and this year has been one of pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone with everything and that is a good thing.  The first 2 weeks I kept thinking I needed to do more cardio, so I added one extra day of cardio (Max 30) Everyone kept saying to “trust the process” so I am trusting the process and sticking to my one extra day of cardio.  Well...

What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN)

W hat is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN)?  FDN is a type of detective work that seeks to identify the underlying causes of disease instead of treating symptoms. Stop Chasing Symptoms and Get to The Root Cause! I understand that symptoms must be addressed. You want relief, but you also want to know why you have symptoms and resolve their cause. My approach is to assess underlying function and discover the underlying causes of your health problems. This approach leads to long-term resolution of symptoms, not just temporary relief. Lab Testing   is a great way to   discover hidden internal stressors that are at the root cause of your symptoms . As a FDN Practitioner, I use non-invasive laboratory tests to find hidden internal stressors and their root causes. With this step-by-step method I can assess the functions and pathways of the Hormone, Immune, Digestion, and Detoxification systems. Basically, everything we need to have running smoothly for op...

Why Vegetable Oils are Unhealthy

This keeps coming up and I have to share this! Let’s talk vegetable oils. In case you didn’t know- vegetable oils are bad. Bad for your health and bad for the environment. First- these do not come from vegetables! These are oils that have been extracted from various seeds. The most common include rapeseed (canola oil), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, and peanut. Unlike coconut oil or olive oil that can be extracted by pressing, these oils have to be extracted in very unnatural ways. Cholesterol and saturated fat are essential to good health. Even now, despite the fact that heart disease, cancer and diabetes rise at an alarming rate while butter consumption is down, vegetable oil consumption is at an all time high. People are still believing the hype and buying this non-healthy food like product.   I have to share this just so you can see how these oils are made! Step 1:  Find some “canola seeds.” Oh wait, they don’t exist. Canola oil is actually made from a...
