What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN)

What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN)?
FDN is a type of detective work that seeks to identify the underlying causes of disease instead of treating symptoms.
Stop Chasing Symptoms and Get to The Root Cause!
I understand that symptoms must be addressed. You want relief, but you also want to know why you have symptoms and resolve their cause. My approach is to assess underlying function and discover the underlying causes of your health problems. This approach leads to long-term resolution of symptoms, not just temporary relief.
Lab Testing is a great way to discover hidden internal stressors that are at the root cause of your symptoms.
As a FDN Practitioner, I use non-invasive laboratory tests to find hidden internal stressors and their root causes. With this step-by-step method I can assess the functions and pathways of the Hormone, Immune, Digestion, and Detoxification systems. Basically, everything we need to have running smoothly for optimal health.
The purpose of these tests are to undercover hidden stressors and malfunctions within the body. Once these are restored and optimized, a client’s symptoms begin to fade away. Our goal is not to treat symptoms or diagnose health issues; our primary focus is on the malfunctions within the body and to create healing opportunities. As malfunctions are corrected, there is a clinical correlation between the elimination of malfunctions and the elimination of symptoms.
Do you know what’s wrong with me?Yes, you have malfunctions at the root of your health complaints which we can identify using functional lab work. Most clients have no idea what is causing their health complaints and neither do their doctors. They have been chasing their symptoms for years because other providers can’t find the cause or don’t bother to even look for it.
Have you “Tried everything” but are still concerned with:
                Can’t Lose/Gain Weight
                High Cholesterol Muscle Pain
                Joint Pain
                Low Energy
                Foggy Thinking
                Sleep Issues
                Poor Libido
                Depressed Moods
                High Blood Pressure Digestive Problems
                Blood Sugar Problems
                Cancer & Diabetes
                Skin & Hair Problems
                Migraines and Headaches
                Sinuses and Allergies
                Osteoporosis

Then its time to stop chasing symptoms and start addressing the underlying causes!
The Lab Testing Is Simple and Convenient
All lab kits will be mailed to you and can be performed in your home.  Our program uses functional saliva, stool, and urine testing.
My approach
I help my clients get clear, obtain the answers that they are seeking, and get on the path to optimal health.I do not believe in simply treating the symptoms. This approach can only provide a temporary solution at best.  It can also create greater suffering and more health issues in the long run. I help my patients understand that there are no quick fixes or magic. I treat people not diseases.  By that I mean that I take a holistic approach. Through a careful examination of a patient’s history  and through appropriate testing, I work with my clients to get to the root causes of their health issues. “Don’t guess, test” is my motto. Through the course of one-on-one sessions, I work with my clients to interpret test results, as well as to create a highly customized nutritional and supplementation protocol (ex. bio-identical hormones) to bring clients to optimal health.

Trusting the Process

In the beginning of September I decided to be in a 30 day online challenge group for  Body Beast  and  Shakeology .  I had never been in a challenge group before so I wanted to have that experience, plus it looked like fun!  At first I was a little nervous and overwhelmed because as part of this challenge group we were to post a daily picture of our shakeology, one of our meals,  which workout we did and a sweaty post workout selfie.  Eek…I never take selfies much less pictures!  Then there was the fear of everyone seeing it that wasn’t in the group. I have a hard time putting myself out there and this year has been one of pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone with everything and that is a good thing.  The first 2 weeks I kept thinking I needed to do more cardio, so I added one extra day of cardio (Max 30) Everyone kept saying to “trust the process” so I am trusting the process and sticking to my one extra day of cardio.  Well...

Why Vegetable Oils are Unhealthy

This keeps coming up and I have to share this! Let’s talk vegetable oils. In case you didn’t know- vegetable oils are bad. Bad for your health and bad for the environment. First- these do not come from vegetables! These are oils that have been extracted from various seeds. The most common include rapeseed (canola oil), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, and peanut. Unlike coconut oil or olive oil that can be extracted by pressing, these oils have to be extracted in very unnatural ways. Cholesterol and saturated fat are essential to good health. Even now, despite the fact that heart disease, cancer and diabetes rise at an alarming rate while butter consumption is down, vegetable oil consumption is at an all time high. People are still believing the hype and buying this non-healthy food like product.   I have to share this just so you can see how these oils are made! Step 1:  Find some “canola seeds.” Oh wait, they don’t exist. Canola oil is actually made from a...
