Getting Back on Track

thLosing weight is not an easy task and for many of you, for some it’s a constant battle of up and down. The good news is that it can be done but you have to be willing to make those changes and it’s not a quick fix. There are so many tools out there to help keep you on track especially in the Beachbody community! With all of the BeachBody programs they give you all the tools you need to lose weight and get healthy! My personal favorites are the 21 Day Fix and Hammer and Chisel. Both come with portion control containers, yummy recipes and amazing workouts to boot!

That is not all though; I have found most people in their mid to late 30’s and beyond have some sort of adrenal fatigue due to internal and external stressors. Out of these people, I find that most have some degree of gut issues, whether they have symptoms or not. This can cause a host of problems and one of them being weight gain and/or having a hard time loosing the weight.

There are so many things out on the market that promote weight loss and it’s easy to fall into that trap. The question is do they really work and realistically will you keep the weight off after you complete the process? The choices range from colonics to fad diets and cleanses. In the end there is no quick fix if you want to be healthy and keep the weight off. Simply put, it is a lifestyle combined with clean eating, exercise, getting enough sleep (this one is huge!), reducing stressors and supplementation where needed. When this is put into place the weight will just fall off!

Trusting the Process

In the beginning of September I decided to be in a 30 day online challenge group for  Body Beast  and  Shakeology .  I had never been in a challenge group before so I wanted to have that experience, plus it looked like fun!  At first I was a little nervous and overwhelmed because as part of this challenge group we were to post a daily picture of our shakeology, one of our meals,  which workout we did and a sweaty post workout selfie.  Eek…I never take selfies much less pictures!  Then there was the fear of everyone seeing it that wasn’t in the group. I have a hard time putting myself out there and this year has been one of pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone with everything and that is a good thing.  The first 2 weeks I kept thinking I needed to do more cardio, so I added one extra day of cardio (Max 30) Everyone kept saying to “trust the process” so I am trusting the process and sticking to my one extra day of cardio.  Well...

What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN)

W hat is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN)?  FDN is a type of detective work that seeks to identify the underlying causes of disease instead of treating symptoms. Stop Chasing Symptoms and Get to The Root Cause! I understand that symptoms must be addressed. You want relief, but you also want to know why you have symptoms and resolve their cause. My approach is to assess underlying function and discover the underlying causes of your health problems. This approach leads to long-term resolution of symptoms, not just temporary relief. Lab Testing   is a great way to   discover hidden internal stressors that are at the root cause of your symptoms . As a FDN Practitioner, I use non-invasive laboratory tests to find hidden internal stressors and their root causes. With this step-by-step method I can assess the functions and pathways of the Hormone, Immune, Digestion, and Detoxification systems. Basically, everything we need to have running smoothly for op...

Why Vegetable Oils are Unhealthy

This keeps coming up and I have to share this! Let’s talk vegetable oils. In case you didn’t know- vegetable oils are bad. Bad for your health and bad for the environment. First- these do not come from vegetables! These are oils that have been extracted from various seeds. The most common include rapeseed (canola oil), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, and peanut. Unlike coconut oil or olive oil that can be extracted by pressing, these oils have to be extracted in very unnatural ways. Cholesterol and saturated fat are essential to good health. Even now, despite the fact that heart disease, cancer and diabetes rise at an alarming rate while butter consumption is down, vegetable oil consumption is at an all time high. People are still believing the hype and buying this non-healthy food like product.   I have to share this just so you can see how these oils are made! Step 1:  Find some “canola seeds.” Oh wait, they don’t exist. Canola oil is actually made from a...
